COVID and Second-Draft-Blues
I guess it was inevitable to catch COVID someday, but I really don't like it! I still feel weak and dazed after more than a week of lying around, sneezing and sleeping.
Now that I feel better again, I grabbed the first draft of the story that I am currently writing (a pulp-inspired crime fiction) and had to admit to myself that the plot was...not well crafted. I went back to the plot, drew a concept map of all the things that influenced the story, and tried to figure out what needed to change to make it work.
It is difficult to fight the urge to start writing something that is more in my comfort zone (romance, science fiction) but it is important to stick with a plan and go through the pain while learning something new.
After replotting the story, I am now in the middle of writing the second draft that changes a lot storywise! I am actually really excited now to see how it all turns out in the end.
